Winston Chong, Principal Architect
Winston Chong is an Architect registered in British Columbia and Ontario. He has recently started his own design studio operating with an aim toward a broad range of architectural projects, landscaping, planning, interiors, exhibitions, furniture, and product design.
Previously, Winston has practiced with some the of key award-winning practices in Canada from KPMB Architects, architectsAlliance in Toronto to Cannon Design and James KM Cheng Architects in Vancouver. Winston has over 18 years of experience as a Project Architect and Designer on projects ranging from the small scale to the large scale of various public and private buildings in Toronto and Vancouver. His most recent project lead was the highly recognized 725 Granville | Sears Redevelopment in downtown Vancouver with James KM Cheng Architects completed in 2015.
Winston has excelled at combining award winning designs with excellent technical skills and well managed construction documentation and administration. He works closely with key stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to ensure that the values and aspirations of every project are reflected in the design. The results are inspiring, and useful spaces are fundamentally modern in outlook.
From 2001-2005 Winston was a primary member of the design and construction administration team for the Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research (with architectsAlliance), which was awarded the RAIC Governor General’s Medal 2008 Recipient, the highest award for Architecture in Canada.
In 2014 – 2015, Winston served as a guest critic and graduate student thesis advisor at the University of British Columbia School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture.
Winston served as chairman of the Advisory Design Panel for the City of Richmond and North Vancouver. He is currently a member of the Advisory Design Panel for the City of Surrey.
